GDPR Compliance
-
As Ola was gearing up to launch operations in the UK, GDPR compliance became a key focus area for the company.
-
We had to get this right. UX copy plays a major role in helping users have control over their data.
-
Here you see how users can request for their data and also choose to delete their account.
-
The first screen appears at the time of registration and the rest appear in the data and privacy settings of the app.

2-factor authentication
-
The usual way to log in to the Ola app is by entering the mobile number and a one-time password (OTP) or a code that is sent to the phone.
-
Users can enable 2-factor authentication to strengthen the security of their account.
-
When this is enabled, the app will also ask for the account password after the OTP has been entered.
-
I chose to call it 2-step verification to keep it simple.

Booking Flow
-
Booking a ride is a simple process. Users need to pick the ride option they want. Review the booking details on the confirmation screen (3) and confirm their booking.
-
Here's where things get interesting. What if the user's preferred ride is high in demand and hard to get? We ask them if they'd like us to look for any available ride instead. This increases their chances of getting a ride.
-
And if the user does not pick the option to book any, we continue trying to look for the ride.
-
If we fail to find one after a while, the option to book any shows up again (last screen).

Purchasing an Ola Pass
-
From introducing Ola Pass, recommending one to helping users pick their choice, this flow has everything in it.
-
This is a complex product as users can choose the distance and the number of rides they want on their pass. Flat fares vary based on the distance that users pick. So there's a lot of choice that users need to make.
-
It's important to let them know what's happening at every step and also provide all details upfront to avoid any frustration later.

Purchase confirmation email
An email goes out to users as soon as they purchase their pass. It explains how the pass works along with important terms and conditions.
