Intro to the Ola app

  • Every app needs an introduction. What you see here are the walkthrough screens of the top features available in the Ola app. Users find this walkthrough when they are yet to sign up or log in.

  • Every feature gets one short sentence to be highlighted.

  • The 'Book Your Ride' CTA takes users to the login/signup flow.

  • The carousel animates automatically while the user is on this screen.

Introducing Share Express rides

  • Ola Share is a popular ride category that allows users to travel at lower fares by sharing a cab with others. This increases the travel time as everyone needs to be dropped off at their doorsteps. That's why Share Express was introduced as a faster Share experience with no deviations.

  • The copy compares this ride option to the regular Share and suggests why it's better. However, the product team did want to specify clearly that users need to walk to a suggested pickup point on the main route.

  • The two introduction screens are used to help users understand why they should use Share Express and how they should use it.

Introducing Share Pass

  • This is a single screen intro to Share Pass. This is usually shown to users who regularly opt for shared rides.

  • The objective here is to quickly introduce them to the benefits of Share Pass.

  • I thought a great way to introduce how it works is to keep the tagline catchy and easy to remember.

How Ola Wi-Fi works

Users reach this screen from their profile settings. Here they see how they can enjoy free Wi-Fi in their cab rides. The copy here gives a quick idea on how they can avail this feature.

Emergency button

  • This button appears as soon as a cab ride begins. However, tapping the button itself will not alert anyone. This is to prevent accidental alarms from being raised.

  • So there's a quick intro in the tool-tip and then the screen that appears on tapping the button gives full info.

  • Since, the user might be seeing this in an emergency, the copy needs to be quickly let them know what happens when they raise an alert.

  • The copy also needs to ensure users know when NOT to use this feature.

Ola Offline

  • You open the app to book a ride and there's not internet. What do you do? You book using SMS.

  • This was the introduction to Ola's offline booking feature.

  • Users can send their location details to Ola by SMS.

  • Tapping the SEND MY LOCATION creates an auto-filled SMS ready to be sent to Ola.
